We talked about the home assignment, which involved a simple parsing algorithm in Perl. This discussion was with the head developer and the head of department. After that, we talked about my previous work, what I expect from the job, and salary. Everything went well; no specific prior knowledge was really needed.

It was a really good vibe talking to the management folks. I met with my potential boss in his office. There weren't any tests or skill assessments. Mostly, we talked about what the job needs and if I'd be a good fit. We discussed my science interests, what I know, my skills, how I handle data, and what the job outputs would be.
