First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Maryville Academy.
Therapist
I had a group interview first. Then, they noticed my Master's degree and mentioned a therapist position. After that, I met with the campus psychologist who went over my resume and asked some questions.
- What challenges do you foresee in working with adolescents?
Teacher
I had a face-to-face meeting with someone. It was a chill conversation. They told me the job needs someone who can speak Spanish really well and also be a good team player with other teachers.
- Tell me about your experience working with children who have gone through trauma.
Youth Care Worker
I had two separate one-on-one interviews. They presented me with hypothetical crisis scenarios and asked for my proposed actions in those complex circumstances. However, other recent interviewees mentioned group interviews involving 6-8 individuals where they were questioned about their social work background and their capacity to manage high-pressure environments.
- In a situation where a client exhibits physical aggression towards you, what would be your course of action?
Childcare Worker
The interview will be conducted over Zoom initially due to post-COVID circumstances. You'll get an email to schedule your visit, and then you'll come in person to check out the facility. You'll meet some of the current staff and spend some time playing with the kids. After that, you'll have another meeting with the supervisor where they'll ask you more questions and you'll have the opportunity to ask them questions as well.
- Can you tell me about your experience working with children from various backgrounds?
