The interview process was on the support staff side, and it had three parts: an informal chat, a meeting with students, and a meeting with colleagues. After I didn't get the job, the lead interviewer, who would have been my supervisor, followed up personally with positive and helpful feedback.

This is super relevant for new students coming in. It's gonna be tough, but also interesting. They're looking for depth of knowledge and expertise. Just be sincere and trust yourself. Brace yourself! It's gonna be hard for all of us, so you should go prepared.

I want to warn creatives and alumni thinking about applying to MICA, especially for creative jobs. I applied for what seemed like a fake Social Media Manager role in April 2025, and didn't hear back until July 2025. They finally contacted me for an interview with the hiring manager. The interview was recorded by AI for notes, which was a bit discouraging. The interviewer was professional, but their attitude made it feel like a formality, and they didn't seem that interested in me. They only perked up when they asked about my ideas for social media campaigns and the metrics I'd track, basically fishing for free content ideas. It was surprising that one of their next social media posts featured the same example I used, highlighting Decker Library and the Fitness Center. While my idea was simple, the timing was a little too coincidental. They said the hiring timeline was about a month, aiming to have someone start before the school year in mid-August, but I was ghosted completely, even after following up. As of November 2025, I still haven't been officially declined and haven't seen anyone in this role. It's really disappointing, especially since I'm an alum and have worked with the College in several capacities. The process would have been easier if I didn't have a connection to the school and if they could just respectfully decline applicants promptly. If you're a creative looking to work here, I'd advise against sharing new ideas with their upper leadership in interviews. I can't support this institution anymore and caution others applying.
