Software Engineer
After 2 days of PPTs, there was an online aptitude test on the same day. The test had 15 Logical Reasoning questions, 31 C Programming questions (slightly below gate level), and 5 questions asking to write code outputs. Round 1 of the interview covered my resume and C programming. Round 2 was a gate-level discussion on Computer Networks, Operating Systems, Computer Architecture, and Data Structures.
- Can you explain the basics of C programming like data types, pointers, and structures?
- Could you solve the problem of reversing a string in C?
- Can you implement bit toggling in C?
Software Engineer
I recently went through the interview process at Marvell Technologies for a DSP role. It took about 3-4 weeks in total. It started with a quick HR screening call to see if my background fit the role. Then, there was a 1-hour technical round with a Senior Architect where we discussed my past work and experiences. The next step was a 1.5-hour onsite interview at their Viman Nagar office. This involved questions about Embedded C, Bitwise operations, RTOS concepts, and C memory layout, plus a whiteboarding session to discuss a design problem. Even though it was a DSP role, they were building a new division and the interviewers didn't seem to have much DSP experience themselves. A big downside was the super slow feedback; HR took over 2 weeks to get back to me after I followed up, and then they just said the feedback from the second round was negative, which was weird given the long wait. The technical team was great and really knowledgeable, but the HR part was a letdown – not transparent and didn't seem to value my time. I'd recommend Marvell for the tech side, but warn people about the HR process.
- Tell me about your background and experiences from previous work.
- Can you answer questions on Embedded C?
- What about questions on Bitwise operations?
Software Engineer
This hiring was for Marvell's userspace network software development division. The interview process has 3 technical rounds and one managerial round. The interviews are average or above average in terms of coding questions. The coding questions are easy but tricky. Go through your OS and networking concepts. The interview starts from a very basic and proceeds to an advanced level. So be aware of the MMU and schedulers of OS. The Switching and routing concepts in networking. Best of Luck for your interview
- Validity of Bit Fields masks
- Merging sorted Linked lists
- Performing insertion and deletion in a BST
