First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Marquette University.
Math Tutor
The interview process was very simple. They ask you about a few scenarios you might run into while tutoring and how you would handle them. The whole team was super kind and understanding. You have to submit your grade check and what classes you're interested in tutoring before the interview.
- What would you do if a student was not very talkative and seemed disengaged during a tutoring session?
Assistant Director of Development
We had 3 interviews, first a phone screen with HR, then a virtual interview with the manager, and finally an onsite interview with 6 people (managers, deans, etc.). There was about a month between each interview.
- Can you share your experience in fundraising?
- Can you share your experience in sales?
- What is your experience with Marquette?
Marketing Communications Specialist
I applied and they asked for my salary expectations. I provided them. Then they set up and conducted an interview, but halfway through they told me they were offering over 20% less than I asked for. This question should have been in the first email to see if I was even interested in continuing. The interview itself was okay, but I didn't really click with the interviewer, and they were very rigid about remote work. They said other people could WFH, but I couldn't because of the job's collaborative nature.
- How does your background relate to a marketing role?
Advancement Associate
Applied in May 2017, but I wasn't available to work until August. Had my initial phone screen that went very well, but then I had some difficulty remaining in touch with the department. I sent a few emails/phone calls that went unanswered, and I assumed I was no longer in the running for a position. Heard back about 2 months later that I was still in the running, so I went in for an informal interview, then a more formal interview. Neither interview was very structured, I asked most of the questions in the second, more formal interview.
- What is most important to you in a work setting?
- What is your motivation for working here?
- What are your objectives for this role?
