Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Marqeta.

The interview process had 6 rounds, which was a bit exhausting, but overall, it was a very positive experience. The HR was amazing, responding quickly and organizing meetings in a way that suited everyone. The entire team was nice and professional. Everything was well-structured and organized. One thing I didn’t like was that after such a long process, it would have been nice to receive more detailed feedback instead of just a general "Thank you." Although I didn’t get an offer, I’m still glad I had this experience.
- Can you introduce yourself?

Recruiter call was bad. The pay range they mentioned seemed to discriminate against me because I'm a woman. They showed no empathy and booked interviews without checking my availability. They also didn't explain what to expect in each conversation, so the portfolio presentation and whiteboarding came as a surprise. It was shocking that they rejected me 5 minutes after my final interview, which was one of nine rounds. Their hiring process is seriously flawed if it takes nine rounds and wastes so much time. It's sickening and reflects the company's culture. I'm actually glad I didn't get the job because it would have been a terrible career move. Goodbye to this awful company and its employees.
- Can you tell me about a time you had a major disagreement with your manager?
Product Designer Intern
The HR part was unpredictable. I actually got rejected back in Feb, but then they reached out again after about a month and a half with another interview invite. I told them when I could do it, but then they sent another rejection after two business days saying the position was filled. I'm confused if they even seriously considered candidates when they reached out. It doesn't seem like the right way to treat people.
