First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Marketing on 6th.
Account Executive
Had three interviews. The first was with the hiring manager, who asked about my resume, my skills, and what I knew about the company. The second interview was with the manager, and we went to visit a client. The 'client' was on the street corner, approaching people and asking for personal info like insurance, social security, and driver's license to give them a government phone. People weren't freely giving that information, and not everyone could get a phone because of higher income or already having one. There was no time for lunch or even a chair, it was just on the street. The manager said he needed to see if I could work hard, which I figured was just a test. Back at the office, the hiring manager asked what I thought about the job: giving 100 phones in 2 weeks, then 500 per week, with help available later, and a chance to become a manager in 3 months. They work from 8:30 am to around 8 pm, with long hours, making $10 per phone.
- Why do you think we ought to hire you?
- Are you someone who works hard?
- What are your impressions of this role?
Administrative Assistant
I met with the CEO, Colm, in a rundown basement office in Berkeley. The interview was short and to the point. Although he described the role as more sales-oriented than administrative, I initially thought it might be a part of the job. He offered me the position on the spot, and I was supposed to start the next day to meet the team. He said he'd email the details that evening, but he didn't. Later, the initial HR contact left a voicemail inviting me for a second interview. I was confused, but it became clear it was a commission-based sales role, which wasn't what I was looking for.
- Do you have a strong drive to work?
Human Resources Assistant
The interview process was pretty straightforward. First, there was a quick 15-20 minute chat that felt more like a conversation. They asked about my personal aspirations, my motivation for applying, and even a bit about my family. Following that, I was invited for a second interview which involved a 2-hour hands-on preview of the day-to-day tasks. I really enjoyed that part and found it easy to grasp. Based on how I did during those two hours, I was extended a job offer, which I was thrilled to accept.
- What are your dreams?
- What motivated you to apply?
- Can you tell us about your family?
Human Resources Specialist
It was a two round interview process, and the hiring manager was super friendly. I checked in at the front desk, and the first interview was about 20 minutes. The second interview was longer, about 1-2 hours, where I got to experience what a day in the life would be like. This part was with the recruiting/HR team. I'm pretty new to this field, and they were really nice and helpful. I actually liked the second interview a lot! They called me the same day and offered me the job.
- What career path are you seeking?
- Can you describe your strengths and weaknesses?
