So, the interview process was pretty standard. It started with a phone screen with the recruiter where they asked some super basic accounting questions, which was a bit weird. Then, I had a one-way video call with the hiring manager. After that, I flew out to NYC for three interviews: one with the hiring manager again, one with a team member, and one with the company president. What really got me was how much I liked the company, only to be ghosted at the end. I kept getting positive feedback and was told they were really considering me. They even had me fly out to NYC, costing me about $700 for travel. The interviews seemed to go well, but then... nothing. I followed up a week later and was told they'd hired someone, but that I might fit another role, which apparently was the one I interviewed for. They said they didn't have budget approval yet, but would know more in a few weeks. The crazy part is they asked me to spend money on travel for a job without budget approval. I've waited to write this, but my profile was archived, I got no rejection, and no update on the position, even months later. Luckily, I found another job, and honestly, I think I dodged a bullet. My advice is to be clearer with candidates and at least send a rejection if you're not moving forward, especially after asking them to travel.

HR was also super unprofessional and said the CTO would call me in a few days, but it's been over 10 days and she hasn't even replied to my email asking for an update.
