Behavioral Technical Case

First I had a 45 minute chat where they asked me some tough questions about what I'm looking for in a new job, things I like and dislike about my current one, my strengths and weaknesses, and what my past managers would say about me. Then, I had to do a financial modeling sample, which was convenient since I didn't have to create a new one. Finally, I had a 2-hour in-person meeting where we went through my resume thoroughly. The team was really helpful, answering my questions throughout and when I was considering the offer. It was obvious that the company's leadership is serious about every new hire, even for manager roles.

The interview process starts with a phone call with the CTO. Then there's an onsite with two technical folks where you'll tackle a design question. After that, a deep dive into your resume with the CTO and the head of customer success. MarketFactory uses 'Top Grade' for hiring. You need to be ready to discuss every job on your resume: why you left, your achievements, your manager's name, how they'd rate you, and what they'd say about you. They ask for contact info for all managers, and they call them. It's a good idea to figure out beforehand whose names and numbers you'll provide to avoid negative feedback. I personally found the Top Grade process freeing, though some find it invasive. Knowing about it beforehand makes it easy to handle.

Applied via LinkedIn and got a quick response. Had a brief screen call where they laid out the process, which might vary since my role is unique. The process involved: 1. A 90-minute screening call with two employees, mainly discussing strengths and weaknesses. 2. A two-hour 'focus' interview where I had to do something field-related: present a six-month marketing strategy, a 90-day tactical plan, and write about the FX market to assess my thinking. 3. Lunch with the CEO and meetings with office staff. 4. A final two-hour interview reviewing my entire resume. 5. Reference check. It was a great process overall, though there were occasional silences, which is common in recruiting.

We met for lunch and I found out more about the role and the company, and then I had two in-person interviews. The interviews were with the founders and took most of the afternoon. MarketFactory really wanted to know my background to make sure I was a good fit.
