This was probably the worst interview I've ever had, and I have over 3 years of experience as a barista and supervisor. The job posting and phone interview mentioned a pay range of $16 to $18, but when I got there, they said that was inaccurate and the starting pay is $16 no matter your experience. The questions that followed were really uncomfortable. They asked if I'd ever been in a physical fight or a screaming match with a coworker or customer. Then they asked me to describe my worst manager, and when I said I'd never had a bad experience and always worked well with my managers, they asked me to describe their worst qualities and if I'd still listen to them or undermine them. To make things even weirder, they asked if I had applied elsewhere and when my last interview was. To wrap it up, they handed me forms to sign, stating I could do the job, agreed to the lower pay, and would pay $45 for a drug test. It felt super unprofessional, like a toxic place filled with lies and violence.

After submitting a lengthy online application, I received a call two days later for a brief 10-minute phone interview. Following that, I was invited for a one-on-one interview where we discussed my previous work history, my reasons for wanting to join Market of Choice, my flexibility regarding working in different departments, and other standard interview queries. Subsequently, I met with the head of the department I was being hired for, which was a short 15-minute chat about the role's specifics. I then received a job offer, which is contingent on passing a drug test that I had to pay for upfront but would be reimbursed if I passed.

I had a personality quiz, then a phone interview, and finally an in-person interview. It was the longest process for an entry-level job I've gone through. The phone call was pretty simple, mostly asking about my availability and why I was leaving my last job. The in-person interview went pretty fast and was easy. They asked pretty standard questions and really wanted to hear about times I'd shown good customer service. After the interview, I had to do paperwork for a drug test and got offered the job a couple days after that.
