So, there were about 3 to 4 rounds in the interview process. First off, there was a screening call with HR where we discussed salary. Then, the second round was a technical session where they talked about the current role, the ISO role, and asked some questions about past IS risk assessments and ISO 27001 experience. The third round was an interview focused on IS and data protection topics, covering audits, regulations, and cybersecurity policies and procedures. Finally, the fourth round was with the CTO and the Head of IS.

I had two online interviews, and then they asked me to come into their Chicago office. After I drove downtown and parked, I had an in-person interview. I followed up afterward but never heard back, so it was a total ghosting. They also didn't reimburse me for parking. It seems like they're disorganized. I liked the people I met, but they didn't communicate or reimburse interview expenses. I wish them well.

First, I chatted with my future manager to get acquainted and learn about the company and the specifics of the role. Then, I was given a take-home coding challenge that took about 2-3 hours to complete. After they reviewed it, I was invited for an onsite interview. During the onsite, I got another programming task with a strict 1-hour time limit, though I needed a little more time, which was fine. Afterward, the team got together, and we discussed my solution. They also threw in a few technical and general questions. Finally, I had an HR interview and then spoke with my potential manager again to go over the role in more detail. Overall, it wasn't too stressful.

It was a pretty standard 3-step process initially: HR screening, a chat with the hiring manager, and then a review of a take-home assignment with the entire team. The last step was a meeting with the CTO, which felt a bit strange for a Product Designer role, especially since it wasn't framed as a culture fit interview. They didn't seem very engaged during that chat, and it gave me the impression they were the ultimate decision-makers, which is confusing given the whole process. I got a generic rejection email after about 1.5 weeks, which is always frustrating after investing time and effort. It would be great if companies could provide at least a short, meaningful feedback sentence instead of just a standard message, as hiring is a two-way street.
