First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Mark-Taylor Residential.
Portfolio Accountant
Had an HR screen, then two separate interviews with accounting controllers. Everything seemed to go well, but during the second interview, the assistant controller described the work environment and the role very differently, almost as if she was trying to discourage me from the position. She also asked some questions that I felt were inappropriate or irrelevant. On the plus side, the HR person and the other two managers were nice. I was ghosted after the three interviews, though I lost interest after the last one.
- Is your current manager aware of your job search?
Leasing Consultant
It was a normal interview. I dressed business casual. I came to the community I was interviewing for. The second interview was with a regional manager at the same community. I was offered the position, and then had to do a drug test, background check, criminal check, and credit check. The credit check was to see if I was eligible to live in a Mark-Taylor community.
- Are you able to handle customers?
- What is your work history?
- How does your past experience relate to this job?
Leasing Agent
The whole process was a mess, with confusing emails and management having me run around to different locations. They ended up hiring someone else, but they said they liked me so much they wanted me to interview again at a different spot. They kept messing up the dates in their emails, so I finally just said I wasn't interested anymore and took a job somewhere else.
- Can you tell me what you know about our company?
- Walk me through your resume.
- How would you demonstrate empathy when dealing with tenants?
Portfolio Analyst
The job described in the interview was very different from the posting. During the initial video interview, I was told most of my day would be spent talking to customers, which isn't what portfolio analysts do. I had applied for a hybrid role, but they said it was fully onsite. They expect you to be an Excel expert, but the pay isn't good enough for that. I didn't want to continue, and they wasted my time.
- Do you use your mouse when working in Excel?
