First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Mariner Wealth Advisors.
Financial Planning Intern
Had one phone call, then I interviewed with two senior advisors. They asked some basic behavioral questions, mostly just to get to know me. I didn't hear back for about a month and there was little to no communication before the start date.
- What is your motivation for pursuing a career in this field?
Intern
I worked with a recruiter through my university for this internship. The process felt smooth and made me feel confident about joining the team. Unfortunately, this was right at the start of Covid and the in-person internship got cancelled. However, they did offer an online externship program to help me get immersed with Mariner, which was a nice gesture.
- What are your long-term career aspirations?
Network Technician
the HR team got back to me right away, like the day after I applied. I talked with them, then the tech team. After waiting about a week, I got an email saying they weren't going forward with me, which honestly, is more than most HR people do. They were quick and communicative the whole time, even though I didn't get the job. That's how HR should work.
- What is your expected salary?
Wealth Advisor
The interview process took two months and involved six interviews in total. Ultimately, they hired someone who didn't meet the minimum requirements outlined in the job description, which stated a CFP designation was mandatory. This chosen candidate also had less education and work experience than me, although they were older. It seems the only significant difference was race, as she is White and I am not. I suggest looking at their company website; if you don't visually match everyone there, don't bother applying or interviewing.
- Can you walk me through your career path?
- What motivates your interest in this position?
- What is your expected salary range?
