It was a pretty standard interview process. I started with their internal recruiter, and then had some usual phone screen questions. The initial screening was basically to see if my skills and experience fit what they're looking for in the job.

This PR internship interview process can take a bit of time, so don't worry if you don't hear back right away -- it might take a few weeks. It started with a phone call where they just went over my resume and asked why I wanted to work in this field. Then, I got a task to write a press release for a product within two hours, which was more of a creative test. Finally, I had a Skype interview with several account teams. About 3-4 people from each account joined and asked some general questions. This part lasted nearly three hours and was pretty straightforward -- basically, just sell yourself!

So I was reached out to on LinkedIn by someone I knew from a past internship, and she told me about this job and sent my resume to the hiring manager. The hiring manager then called me and set up a phone interview. After that, I got an assignment where I had to act like I worked for Free People and reply to two tweets with both text and a visual. I had 24 hours but finished in 5. They liked my assignment and invited me to NYC for an in-person interview. But when I got there, the person I was supposed to meet was sick, so someone from the Design Department interviewed me instead. It was a brief interview that went well, and they explained the role. I got to ask them questions about the company, the culture, and life at MMC. I sent thank you notes, both handwritten and by email, to both people I spoke with, but I never heard back or got an offer.

It was a pretty thorough process, I met everyone on the team, from the junior folks up to the senior ones and the practice leads. After that, I had to do a writing test that took over an hour. They also checked my references and did a background check. If you've worked at a PR agency before, none of this is really surprising, it's pretty standard stuff.
