This whole thing took like a month. It kicked off with a recruiter chat. Then, about a week later, I had a behavioral chat with the hiring manager, and they got back to me after that. Seemed to go okay. Fast forward two weeks, and I talked to some team members. The recruiter was super quiet, honestly. I tried hitting them up (no reply), then went to the hiring manager after a month. Eventually, the recruiter messaged me saying they went with someone else for the gig. I get that people are swamped, but some heads-up would've been nice instead of weeks of silence, and I had to chase them. Ghosting after the first chat is one thing, but after three rounds and a ghosting recruiter? Leaves a bad taste. Still, glad I got to chat with the hiring manager and designers. My tip: Keep people in the loop and be straight with future candidates.

Although the company seemed amazing, the salary they offered didn't meet my expectations. I do want to mention that my experience with the recruiter, Savannah, was fantastic! Unlike most recruiters who sound robotic and scripted, she was different. She asked insightful questions about my background, was upfront during our chat, and followed up on the next steps as promised. Even though I didn't move forward to the next stage, I'm happy I connected with a very professional person during this process who respected my time.

Got an email to set up a chat with the recruiter. It was a quick 30-minute call. Next up was the hiring manager, who I met on Google Meet for about 30-45 minutes. I didn't hear back after 9 days so I followed up, but still nothing. Pretty sure I got ghosted. It would have been nice to get a rejection email instead of just being ignored. The really annoying part was how they talked up the company and its values. That doesn't feel so great when your recruiter ghosts candidates. Seems like others have had the same experience from what I've seen in reviews.

So, after investing a lot of time preparing for multiple interviews over six weeks and seven calls, I got a canned rejection email. They told me I'd hear back by a certain date, but then they added another step and ghosted me for 10 days. I followed up twice and got ignored until I found out through a generic email that the job was filled. I don't think I was entitled to the job, but I deserved at least a quick email with feedback after putting in so much effort. For MarginEdge, one interviewer was really tough, grilling me about why I left my last job and making rude comments about another team member, which wasn't needed and left little time to talk about my experience. The early leadership team talks up vanity metrics, and you can see alliances forming if you look closely. The salary is really low for the role, the COO needs CEO approval for hiring decisions, three out of six people I met seemed toxic, and the heavy focus on culture fit felt like a way to enforce homogeneity.
