General Manager
Pretty easy, just goes over the job details, ask about your availability and job history, explains the hours of operation , day to day operations, what to expect and to be expected in the role you are applying for.
- Why do you think this job would be a good fit for you?
Ice Cream Server
It was awkward. The interviewer kept trying to dissuade me from taking the job. This was my first job in food service, coming from a background in childcare, but he ultimately offered me the position. However, after only two days of working, he didn't contact me with my next shift details. I had to call him, and he acted surprised, asking if I didn't receive his message, which I hadn't. He then suggested that food service might not be a good fit for me and that I should consider returning to childcare. At the time, I was dealing with severe anxiety, OCD, and depression. Simply finding a job was a significant challenge, and this feedback was devastating. Fortunately, I later found employment at a family-owned restaurant where I worked for six years and was highly valued.
- Wouldn't you prefer to return to working in childcare?
Employee
I went in and filled out an application on paper. I got a call back that Sunday around 3 pm to set up an interview for the next day, Monday at 10:00 am. The interview went really well, it was an easy and simple process. Me and the manager had a great conversation. She mentioned that if I didn't hear back by Wednesday afternoon, the position would be taken because she had more interviews scheduled after me. However, I got called back just 2 hours later and was told I got the job. I started the very next day.
- Have you been a customer here before, and what was your experience like?
- What kind of conversation would you have with customers?
- How would you manage school and work commitments?
Ice Cream Scooper
It was a very casual interview, we sat at a customer table. It was one of their first days at the store they'd just purchased. I was very interested in the processes surrounding the purchasing of the store, and I believe they really liked that. My employers happened to misplace my resume, so now I think I'll always bring a copy with me just in case.
- Can you describe yourself in four words?
- What is one of your job weaknesses?
- What are your goals for the next 1 and 5 years?
