First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Marathon Capital.
Investment Banking Analyst
The process involved several rounds. It began with casual coffee chats that eventually led to a first-round case study. The case study was pretty straightforward but required a solid understanding of renewables and project financing models. Following that, there was another interview with a banker. It took a while to get a response after that.
- Can you explain what IRR is and how it might differ between two projects based on the provided figures?
Investment Banking Analyst
We had three interviews, each lasting about 30-45 minutes. The first one was about the renewable energy industry in general. The second one was a behavioral interview, and the last one tested my finance knowledge.
- Can you explain how tax credit financing operates?
Investment Banking Analyst
So we had a modeling prompt first, then the Superday happened after women's day. The interviewers were really nice, and they asked some behavioral and some technical questions. You should definitely study up on IBD questions and also renewables-related concepts to prepare and show you're really passionate about it.
- Why are you interested in renewables?
- Between two given projects, which one would have a lower discount rate?
- Do you have any questions for us?
