First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Marakon.
Senior Associate
For the case interview, I had to review an example project and give an analysis of the situation, making sure to come up with client-ready answers with someone in that current role. There was also a separate individual test focused on numerical and commercial skills.
- How would you advise clients given this scenario?

It started with an on-campus interview, then about 10 days later, an in-office interview. The interviewers were super nice, and the whole process really showed off the company's cool culture. But, they took ages to get back to me after the interviews, like over a month, which wasn't great. The first interview was the standard case and fit questions combo. The second round had three parts, each about 40 minutes. There was a written case study, which was pretty challenging with lots of number crunching and no one to ask for help, and then two interviews focusing on personality and fit, with a few business sense questions thrown in.
- A credit-card POS processor (like Square) is facing customer attrition and retention problems. What could be the reasons for this?
- What are your thoughts on the direction of the self-driving car industry and the potential strategic moves of major companies like Google and Apple?
- Can you identify any potential joint ventures within the self-driving car sector and explain your reasoning?

So the interview process at Marakon is pretty standard for management consulting. You'll do case interviews in every round. They had an on-campus round which was two case interviews. Then the final round was in their NY office and had three interviews: two cases and one fit interview. Overall, it was a great experience. The people at Marakon were really nice and made me feel comfortable. Even though my interviews were late in the day, the interviewers were friendly and helpful, and you could tell they wanted me to succeed, which was a nice change from other companies.
- Do you have a creative or out-of-the-box approach?
- Can you suggest additional ideas or innovative solutions?
- Are you able to come up with unique responses?
