Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Maple Leaf Foods.
Senior Financial Analyst
I had a one-hour interview over Zoom with two managers. They seemed pretty relaxed, but there was some awkward small talk between them while I was there. One of them didn't seem super engaged because I wasn't joining in on their chat.
- Could you walk me through your background and experience?
- Are there any specific details on your resume you'd like to discuss further?
Financial Analyst
I applied online and about a week later, I got an email with a link for an online recorded interview that I could do anytime within 3 days. After that, there were two phone calls and then an in-person interview with both HR and the hiring manager.
- Tell me about the company's history.
- What are your salary expectations?
- Given the job description, can you answer some technical questions?
Financial Analyst
It was a two-round process, starting with a phone call and then an in-person meeting. The phone interview focused a lot on personality and whether I could work independently without needing constant supervision. The direct supervisor for the role was also present during the interview. The main theme was about my ability to work autonomously and to refrain from asking for help. When I inquired about educational advancement support or time off, the response was standard, mentioning some book reimbursement but not much substantial support.
- Could you select a company at random and outline the line items that appear on its profit and loss statement?
