Manson Construction Co. Interview Questions
& Process

Had a phone screen and then two in-person interviews. The interviewer kept asking about the turnover in the position and my willingness to do the tasks, as it was described as a very "manual" job. I know there was a lot of turnover there before, but it felt like a big red flag.

The interview process involved a phone screen that led to an all-day onsite interview. The day kicked off with a discussion about Manson's history and safety culture. After that, a relaxed chat with the hiring manager covered my interest in Manson, the marine construction industry, and my extracurriculars. Lunch followed, then a writing exercise and interviews with the regional VPs. The VPs asked a mix of questions, some seemingly random or based on earlier conversations, like who I'd compare myself to and why, or to tell a joke. Overall, the interview felt laid-back and enjoyable.

I applied to Manson Construction after seeing a job posting on my University's Career website. A few weeks later my school held a job fair which Manson attended. I spoke to two of their representatives about the position and gave them my resume. A month later I received a call from the company to set up an interview. I was interviewed by two employees. Both of them were very friendly and encouraged conversation rather than just going from question to question. Interview questions included both general personality questions and questions to determine if the position qualifications were met. For the last part of the interview I had to submit a writing sample. A week later I received a call informing I was chosen for the position.

The interview started at a university job fair. After that, I got an email asking me to send my resume. I filled out an online questionnaire. Then I had an in-person meeting to finish the screening. I started working in the field the next semester.
