First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Manifest Solutions.
IT Consultant
Manifest Solutions has a 4 step process for this position. they start off with a pretty easy technical phone screen involving basic OOP concepts taught in your first programming classes in college. The difficulty starts to ramp up after that. The next phase involves a coding exercise that is probably the most time consuming one I have done for a company though wasn't very difficult. As long as you follow common OOP design principles, you should be fine. The third phase involves a technical phone screen with their CTO which can be intimidating. You are warned before hand that many people come out of the interview feeling like they did poorly. I was one of them, expect to get no response from your answers whether right or wrong. There isn't really any prep you can do for this one, just try to answer questions confidently. The final phase was an interview with their CEO and company owner. Very laid back interview that seemed like a culture/personality check. Nothing technical, just do your best to communicate with them and show interest in the company.
- Questions related to OOP
Java Developer
Everything went well until the interview with the CEO and VP. They were extremely rude and I'm not sure I would have accepted an offer if they would have given me one. I had to wait for them to get done with their meetings when I had an interview scheduled the week before. Then as soon as the interview starts the CEO is too busy playing on her phone to even look at me. I had to take time off of work to interview in the middle of the day and they cannot even bother to pretend to be interested. The VP only asked 1 question and the rest of the interview was just me asking him questions. I would not recommend interviewing with these people.
- Can you give me three words that describe you?
Software Engineer
The interview process has 4 steps. First, a phone interview with a recruiter. Then, a phone interview with the CTO. After that, a programming assignment, and finally an in-person interview. If accepted, the starting salary is $40,000, and you sign a 2-year contract to complete a coding boot camp. I opted out after the first round due to a negative experience with the recruiter. Although recruiters don't have programming experience, they ask about 10 object-oriented programming questions, likely learned for the interview. The recruiter was rude and exhibited gender bias, bordering on discrimination. Despite being offered to proceed, the recruiter warned that the CTO would "obliterate" me. After declining multiple times, the recruiter changed their tone and offered to "educate" me before re-extending the offer. Given this experience, I won't proceed, and many others in the industry agree this isn't standard practice. The recruiter's comments about my programming knowledge, despite their lack of experience, were discouraging. They also mentioned a "preference for bachelor's degrees." While this boot camp might seem attractive, proceed with caution and explore all other options before signing with Manifest.
- Could you define object oriented programming?
Program Manager
First, I had a phone screening with the recruiting specialist. Then, I went through two virtual interviews: one with the hiring manager and another with other company leaders.
- Can you tell me about your experience that aligns with what we're looking for in this role?
