Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Manhattan Star Academy.
Paraprofessional
The interviewer was nice and asked if you were okay with a life skills-heavy curriculum and helping students transition or changing diapers. It was pretty easy, and they're supportive of different experience levels. You get to see different classrooms to decide if the role is a good fit.
- Could you describe your experience supporting children?
Speech Language Pathologist
The interview was pretty casual, but I didn't really get a chance to show off what I know or my strong points. It felt a bit rushed, and there were a few people there, though some of the therapists seemed distracted instead of paying attention to my answers.
- Can you share an example of a challenging client interaction you've experienced and explain how you managed it?
Paraprofessional
It was a quick and simple zoom call, it was a group interview and the interviewer asked a couple questions about work history and how you would handle certain situations with the children and or staff.
- What would you do if an autistic child had a tantrum and started screaming while you were taking them to the bathroom?
- Can you describe your previous work experience?
- How would you manage challenging scenarios involving children or staff members?
