Digital Marketer
I was recruited by Manduka for a DTC digital marketer role, and they mentioned the role details weren't finalized but were aiming for a certain position. I spoke with the recruiter, learned about the company, and what experience they wanted. Everything seemed to align with my career goals, so I continued. However, I noticed some concerning things. The role wasn't new, but was replacing someone who didn't know they were being let go. This felt wrong to me. While I'm sure it happens, it's not right. Replacing someone because you don't like them to avoid lawsuits is a major red flag. So, I decided to withdraw from the process because of the company culture. I believe leaders should coach their team, and if there's no improvement, they should have a clear performance improvement plan. Companies and leaders should be accountable instead of shifting blame.
- What is your motivation for being a part of Manduka?
Financial Analyst
So I got a call from Manduka expressing interest. After the initial screening call, I checked Glassdoor and honestly, the reviews were a bit scary. But I didn't dwell on it and got scheduled for an interview with the CFO, my potential boss. She rescheduled THREE times for various reasons, forcing me to rearrange my work schedule each time. Finally, she showed up, but she didn't act like a CFO at all – the questions were basic and she seemed uninterested and not really listening, which was odd. Then I had two more rounds, one with a group of people who seemed nice but gave off unhappy vibes. I thought I was a top candidate after finishing all rounds. HR said I'd hear back in two days, then 'next week,' and then 'early next week.' I finally expressed my frustration about having to follow up so many times, especially since they crammed all four interviews into one week and I was accommodating. Their response was an apology and a need for 'at least a month.' I've never seen such unprofessional and inconsiderate behavior. It seems they can't afford the position, but they shouldn't waste people's time. This whole experience showed me how terrible and unorganized they are, and I'm glad it happened because I would have been miserable like their employees online. So, I'm definitely declining any further opportunities and advise others not to waste their time.
- Can you tell me about the business model?
- How familiar are you with Excel?
- How familiar are you with NetSuite?
Senior Manager
It was a lot of rounds - first two on the phone, then I went onsite and met with Senior Leadership and then the CEO. After that, I took a personality test. Then I had another 1:1 with the CEO. After the offer, they did background checks. It was super detailed, they wanted to make sure I was the right fit.
- Tell me about two times you were unethical in your work.
Sales Executive
So I had a weird interview experience with Manduka's sales team. Went through three rounds, then just silence. They went through standard questions super fast, and it felt like they were pushing a 'work hard, play hard' culture. They also dropped hints about a lot of leadership changes happening. The last interview was really rushed and just felt awkward. They pretty much wanted me to ask them all the questions, saying they were doing me a favor for a friend. It was a really strange and disappointing situation. Makes me feel lucky it didn't work out, if that's how they operate. Clearly, they don't value people's time or effort.
