First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Makovsky.
Intern
I had an interview with HR over the phone. Then I had a second phone call with an Executive. It was a pretty easy process and both calls with Makovsky staff were pleasant. They really emphasized writing and communication skills, and a lot of the interview is about fit. I think they hire more based on fit than how technically sound your skills are. Like with any job, finding a connection to the company is the best way to get an offer.
- What makes you interested in Public Relations?
- Can you share an experience where you had to work under a deadline?

It was a whole process with interviews on different days and weeks, plus a writing test. The whole thing took about two months until they offered me the job. After the first month, I was sure I didn't get it. But then they called me back about a month and a half later for a final interview and gave me an offer right at the two-month mark. The HR person offered me the salary, and I tried to negotiate. It didn't really go well. They yelled, and I almost backed out. They said if I didn't accept, I'd lose the offer.
- Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Account Executive
HR was super responsive after I applied and set up a phone interview quickly. I met the team in person the following week and really enjoyed the interactions. I've always admired Makovsky and wanted to work there. Sadly, I didn't have quite enough experience for the Senior Account Executive role at this time, but they've kept in touch and I'm keen to stay connected for future opportunities.
- Were there questions about your knowledge of the industry?
Assistant Account Executive
The interview experience started great, lots of promises were made and it was very energizing, I was extremely excited. I met with 3 different people and the whole process took about 2-3 hours. I wish I knew then what I know now...
- Could you start by telling me about yourself?
- Why are you interested in ___ discipline of the department?
