First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Makersquare.
Fellow
The interview process involved a technical screen where I had to whiteboard a queue using two stacks. Then there were behavioral questions and a game of hypotheticals. Specifically, I was asked what I would do if I found two engineers bickering, with one crying, and how I would defuse that situation.
- How would you invert a binary tree?
Marketing
First, I had a phone call with the founder where I answered questions about my background and what I'm interested in. Then, there was an in-person 1:1 where I used Asana for a skills test. After that, I had another phone call to discuss my answers and they asked me more questions. Finally, I got an offer via email after a phone call.
- What is it about MakerSquare that interests you?
- What do you like about the company?
Student Outcomes Lead
First, a 30-minute phone call where we'll chat about what you know about the company, some behavioral questions, who your role model is, and your salary expectations. Then, a 2-hour onsite interview with the Managing Director and National Outcomes Director. This will include a tour, an overview of the company and its structure. You'll also face behavioral questions, meet with two students to see how you build rapport and demonstrate your coaching style, and answer questions about how you'd coach students through specific situations like job search withdrawal or salary talks. Finally, you'll complete several tasks in Asana within a 45-minute time limit.
- Can you share an instance when you didn't achieve a goal?
Student Outcomes Lead
First up was a phone call to go over my qualifications, plus some situational questions, and I discussed salary requirements. Then, the onsite involved behavioural and more situational questions. I also interviewed two students to see how I'd build rapport, and there was a take-home assignment for Asana. We did a tour of the operation, followed by feedback and analysis.
- Could you tell me about yourself?
- Who do you consider a role model?
- Describe a situation and how you responded to it.
