Maker Studios Interview Questions
& Process

This interview is for parents to make sure they know and are ready and knowledgeable about their child's current academic abilities. Please read all questions carefully. The interview has no time limit but it does end at 8:00 AM. If the education board sees you're still working, you'll be blocked and your interview will be reviewed, finished or not.

Went to their London office back in 2015 and had a pleasant interview that lasted about 40 minutes. The questions were not too taxing and I felt able to answer them easily enough. One problem though was that I came dressed in a suit, which did not fit the vibe of the place. The interview aside, I'm afraid that the recruitment process has left me with a poor view of Maker. They did not give me any update about the interview after I left and it is only though their silence that I knew I was rejected. I would strongly encourage them to contact people after interviews and give feedback in future.

About a week after I applied, an HR Rep reached out via email to set up an in-person interview. I spent a week getting ready. When I arrived, everyone in the office seemed swamped, but I managed to chat with two team members about the job and my background. I was really into the role and got a good vibe from the team; it felt like they were into me too. I sent thank you notes to both of them. Roughly a week later, a different HR Rep emailed me for a second in-person interview. The plan was to meet with several people, but due to the busy schedule that day, I only met with two (one of whom I'd already spoken with). This meeting was brief but went really well. Again, I made sure to follow up with a thank you to everyone who met with me. Then came the maddening wait. It's frustrating that after investing so much time and energy, a company can't even send a simple "We hired someone else" to let you know. You're left to just guess and wait. I reached out to them for an update and never heard back. The process started out great but soured when they ghosted my emails. By ignoring my follow-ups, they showed a lack of respect for my time and interest, which sadly soured my view of the company.

The interview process was pretty standard. However, the supervising attorney I was supposed to meet with in person was unreliable and ended up canceling and rescheduling our interview with very little notice. They were upfront about the salary for junior attorneys being $40,000 per year, which I thought was quite low and unfair. I hope things have improved since Disney acquired the company.
