The interview process for Maison Kayser takes place at their 40th street Broadway location. It was very crowded with about 100 people, making it hard to find a spot to fill out the application due to the noise from multiple interviews happening simultaneously. It was unclear who to approach initially. If you pass the first interview, you move to a second round. You'll need to find a place to sit or take a walk while waiting for your turn, and the wait time can be significant depending on when you arrived. Those selected wait in a designated area while others are still being interviewed, which felt unprofessional due to seeing those who didn't get hired. However, the process was very direct, which is a plus if you prefer that. After the interviews, there's a welcome speech, introductions to potential colleagues, a store tour, and a brief second interview at the end. The whole experience lasted about 3 hours. Orientation is paid and involves a lot of positive talk about the company, but the reality is you'll earn minimum wage during training. There's a test required to pass within two attempts, or you're fired. Also, the initial impression of trying various foods for product knowledge is misleading, as some managers restrict trying items or consuming waste, though you do get to try some breads and pastries at orientation. It's advised to try everything offered and ask many questions during both the interview and orientation, as the job might not be what it initially seems. Remember to interview them as well to ensure it's a good fit for you.

You go to the open call and if they like you they call you for the second interview with the manager. On that same day, they will tell you if you get hired or not. If you do, you will fill out your 2w form tax. You also bring your deposit void to give them to deposit your check. After all of that, the next business day you go to orientation. That's where they will tell you about the company in a video and also bring a small notebook if you want to take notes. They will also tell you about the benefits and the growth of the company. Overall, if you have a lot of experience and knowledge of French, then you'll likely have a higher chance of getting hired.

I visited the main office in Manhattan, which had a really welcoming vibe. The interview was about an hour long. Everyone was nice, professional, and respectful, which made me feel comfortable and focused on my story. Although I didn't get the exact position I applied for due to a board meeting decision, I accepted their offer for a demoted role because I felt it was the right place. I believe I'll be reevaluated once I build trust through my actions. Overall, it was a great experience.

So it was a little different from the other interviews. They email you and you have to go in their offices in Manhattan with other competitors. Then the managers introduce themselves and you do a challenge with pastries and cups. You take from the other table and then you put it on the main table, wrap it, and put stickers based on your team colors.

Confirmed questions1 question
  • The questions were mostly about the team challenge.
