First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Mahindra.
Graduate Engineer Trainee
Got the initial notice about the company visiting campus about a week back. They had a GPA cutoff of 7 out of 10. The first stage was a written test. It had pretty basic electrical engineering questions, some verbal reasoning, and a 20-question section on auto passion where we could only answer about 4-5. The second stage was a long group discussion, not very strictly managed, with some games to assess team spirit. The third stage was a phone interview that lasted around 25 minutes. They asked a lot about the importance and application of my final year project, plus some fundamental questions on automotive electrical systems.
- Can you explain how a battery, specifically an automotive one, is specified?
- What are all the electrical loads found in a car?
Graduate Engineer
I got direct entry to the interview because I won the Mahindra Technical Quotient. The interview had a panel of 2 people; one focused on technical questions and the other on HR. They asked questions about my final year project and related subjects. My classmates had to go through a technical entrance round first, and then 5 people were selected out of 45 for interviews. It's important to dress formally for the interview, and the panel and organizers were professionals.
- Who is your favorite football player?

It was good, the interviewer was impressed by me, asked some deep questions on matlab control systems, still rejected. Basic questions of electrical like motors and power system was asked. Maybe they wanna someone from electronics side, because only one hire from electrical and 7 from mechanical l, I wish I was from mechanical atleast had got placed.
