First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Magnolia Audio-Video.
Project Manager
It was a round table, pretty laid back. Several regional managers were there. It felt corporate and seemed like a clique-driven environment. They tend to promote from within, so don't count on getting the job just based on your qualifications.
- Can you tell me about your strengths and weaknesses, and how you've dealt with customers?
- What are your strengths and weaknesses, and describe how you've handled customers?
Systems Designer
The interview process felt pretty casual for me. They do have a set of questions, but given my significant sales background, it was mainly a chat about what the job entails. Be ready for customer service and other typical sales-focused questions.
- Tell me about a situation where you dealt with an unhappy customer. How did you handle it?
General Manager
The interview process has evolved over the past two years. It begins with a phone interview with a recruiter, followed by an in-person interview with the Territory Manager and the Best Buy Store General Manager. Occasionally, a current Magnolia GM might be involved in the interviews. A major emphasis is placed on managing a commission-based sales team and overseeing all business operations, including sales, inventory, and human resources.
- Besides your significant other, who would be the very first person you'd inform upon receiving a job offer?
Systems Designer
Got contacted and set up for a phone interview. It was about 15 minutes long and had typical interview questions. After the interview, I got the job offer and was told to check my email for the official offer.
- In what ways could you enhance and contribute to our team?
