It was a phone interview. I have worked with an international team with various accents. But If you have an employee who is extremely hard to be understand over the phone then he may not be the right person to do a phone interview. Half the the time just went asking the interviewer to repeat the question. The interviewer was robotic. The call started with " I am from Magnetic. Two coins are tossed....". An interview is as much about you getting to know me as me getting to know you. Magnetic seems to be one of those companies that does not seem to care about the latter. If you require a candidate with "good communication skills" maybe you should start with the interviewer. He seemed like a decent person but just should not do a phone interview. More importantly it is extremely bad professionally to ask the candidate about his current salary if you are not part of the HR or very high up in the management. I do not want to discuss my current salary with a prospective future colleague of similar level or one libel higher. This was just extremely unprofessional. Did not hear back after the phone interview.

Behavioral Technical

I went through two rounds of phone interviews. After a few days passed without hearing from them, I followed up only to have my email go unanswered. It is perfectly acceptable to not proceed with my candidacy, however, I found it extremely unprofessional to ignore my follow up email. Two interviews constitutes a response, regardless whether it's positive or negative. "Ghosting" is not appropriate in the professional world, this isn't a dating app.

Behavioral

I connected with the recruiter and then went to their office in Santa Monica. It was a small, startup-like space without a receptionist. My first meeting was with the director of accounts. The next person I met was the head of sales, who was more friendly and asked direct questions. However, they mentioned that because the team was small, everyone would need to help with basic tasks like ordering supplies and cleaning the kitchen, which isn't something I'm looking for.

So first I had a phone call with a senior engineer. They asked me a lot about my past projects and had me walk through them. Then I went onsite for a face to face interview that was about 3 hours. It included one whiteboard coding round, two behavioral interviews, and one technical interview.
