& Process

The interview process was really fast, which was great. The recruiter got in touch the same week I applied. I had an onsite interview within two weeks and got an offer the week after that. The panel I interviewed with was really nice and asked standard behavior-based questions. The only thing that wasn't great was when I tried to negotiate the salary. The hiring manager seemed to take it personally instead of as a business matter. In the end, I turned down the offer because there was no flexibility on salary and they took back a sign-on bonus that was mentioned earlier, which didn't feel good and seemed like a reaction to me trying to negotiate.

I applied before a job fair on campus and then had an interview the next day. This interview was the first of two and was pretty straightforward behavioral questions. They didn't ask me anything about the company or the industry. It was basically all "tell us about a time where you had an issue with a team-member and how did you resolve it" type questions. I heard back about two weeks later but wasn't selected for the second round.

Applied for a job in another state and first spoke with my recruiter. Then had an initial interview with a group of staff from Magellan, including a manager and some leads. This was a phone call where they introduced the company and their work, then I talked about my background and expertise. They asked technical questions to assess my fit for the role, followed by behavioral questions about handling disagreements with colleagues or what I would do in certain situations. The interview concluded with technical architecture questions that seemed to go beyond the role's scope, testing my capabilities. I had a chance to ask them questions too. The whole first interview lasted about 2.5 hours. Magellan's team liked me and contacted my recruiter about a second conversation. Four days later, I had a meeting with more of their staff and future colleagues to discuss my impressions of the company and the position. This meeting lasted about an hour. I anticipated an in-person interview, but they didn't feel it was necessary since I had lived in the area before. Two days after that call, a manager and HR rep met with me to extend an offer, discussing benefits and relocation. I requested a formal written offer and planned to respond within 48 hours after family discussions. We accepted and I confirmed a start date in 4 weeks.

First, there was a shop math test and a decision making evaluation. Then, an in-person interview with a panel of three managers from different areas and maybe one technician. It was a long interview, starting with technical stuff and then moving to personal opinions and actions when put in tough situations. It felt really awkward.
