I submitted four test projects before the interviews, which they said would take 30 minutes but really took much longer. The first interview was with a recruiter who asked if this was my first job out of university and confirmed the salary was $40-$50K. The second interview was with the manager, who seemed to be looking for someone more senior, which surprised me given the salary. They let me know the same day that I wasn't selected because they wanted someone with more prospecting experience, which wasn't clear from the job listing.

I had a screening interview that went well. After that, I was scheduled for another interview with the Head of Engineering. However, they canceled the interview on the day it was supposed to happen, saying that he was 'unable to attend.' They also said that the original interviewer would reschedule it. It took TEN days to hear back from that person. He then stated that they had changed the job requirements (or something similar), even though the changes he mentioned were already on the original job listing. This whole process felt disrespectful of my time and showed major disorganization within this small startup.

Behavioral Technical Case Presentation

It's a long process but it's valuable because people really give their time and it allows you to meet most people, which is important in a startup! You also feel they take recruitment seriously and are willing to bring in the right candidate, and the result is a great team behind! Very nice people and a real dialogue during the interviews. It really makes you want to work with them too. First, there's a video call with the hiring manager/talent coach. Then, you do a work sample that takes a few hours and you have a few days to do it. After that, there's a debrief of the work sample with the hiring manager and a peer. Then, you have onsite interviews with peers, main co-workers, and one of the founders to understand your profile, skills, way of working, and values (very important to see if you are a good cultural fit). Finally, an interview with the CEO.

Behavioral Technical

The recruiter reached out and setting up the interview was easy, asking for availability and sending an invite. I had a call with the hiring manager, who was an executive. They showed up 8 minutes late and didn't apologize. They were on the call with a toddler and in their night clothes. The toddler was fussy and the interviewer kept talking to them while I was answering questions, clearly divided attention. They turned off their video and came back with an infant in their arms, standing over the camera. The rest of the interview involved them cajoling their infant. The focus was on my implementation experience, even though it wasn't in the job description. They said I wasn't a good fit due to lack of implementation skills, but then gave me feedback on my interview presentation. I knew it wouldn't work out for me within the first 5 minutes.
