First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Madison School & Community Recreation.
Adult Fitness Specialist
I was emailed and told I was one of 9 people selected for an in-person interview, out of a larger applicant pool. After the first interview, I was contacted the next day to move on to the next round, where it was down to 2 candidates. Two more interviews happened within 5 days, and I was told the same day after the final interview that I didn't get the job.
- Can you define equity within the context of wellness?
Program Leader
You submit your application online and then are prompted to arrange your interview via an online system. Afterward, you head to the MSCR office at Hoyt School and check in at the reception. An HR representative will meet you and escort you to a classroom for the interview. It's a one-on-one conversation, and they'll pose questions from a standardized list given to all candidates. A lot of the questions are situational or based on your past experiences. The atmosphere felt pretty relaxed, way less formal than a panel interview.
- Tell me about your prior experience working with children.
- Can you describe a time you effectively handled a conflict situation?
- Have you worked with children with disabilities before?
Youth Instructor
I emailed the supervisor and then had a phone conversation with her. After that, I had an in person interview with the supervisor at the Hoyt School. It was in an empty classroom, and I dressed business professional, but it wasn't necessary. She was really nice and told me a lot about the program and what I'd be doing.
- Can you share your experience as a youth dance teacher?
Tennis Instructor
It was very relaxed overall, I had a chat with someone from the organization about the position in general and also discussed any relevant background I have in playing or coaching tennis.
