For the Macquarie internship, the interview was mainly behavioral, focusing on teamwork, adaptability, and problem-solving. I talked about my past projects and why I want to join Macquarie, mentioning its innovative, global, and collaborative culture. The interviewer also told me about what happens next and how the internship is set up. It was a good chat, and I felt like I got a real sense of Macquarie’s values and the opportunities they offer.

For the intern role, the interview involved math problems and regular coding questions focusing on concepts like regex. It was mainly resume-based, without any data structures or algorithms questions. I was given 2-3 math questions covering normal distribution, probability, and permutations and combinations.

Lots of employers start with a screening interview to see if you're a good fit. This call or meeting is short, about 15-20 minutes, and it's to narrow down who they'll actually interview. Then comes the first interview, which is usually your first in-person chat. They want to know you better, check your skills, and see if you vibe with the company culture. This part includes introductions, them telling you about the company, you answering their questions for about 20 minutes, and then you get to ask them some questions. After that, you might have a second interview to meet department heads and maybe tour the place. They'll ask more specific questions based on the first interview and see how you'd fit in. Some places do a third interview to finalize their decision. By this point, you should know a lot about the company and how you could fit in. You might even meet future coworkers. The last step is the offer, usually after a background check and reference check. They might give you a verbal offer first to see if you're happy with the terms before sending a written offer, so you can negotiate if needed.
