Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Macquarie Group.
Business Analyst
The interview process consisted of two main parts. First, there was a formal interview with both a manager and a director. After that, we moved on to a group activity. In this activity, we had to discuss and collectively decide on ten essential items we would take with us if we were in an emergency situation on a ship.
- Could you share an instance where you delivered a presentation?
- Describe a situation where you experienced significant time pressure and explain how you managed it.

Interviewed a few years back - leadership in the Digital and MarTech space was very condescending. I had some technical issues for the assessment site for one of the tests and despite a decent interview, the next interview then got cancelled with the comment 'I thought your test score would be higher', even though I explained previously why one of the tests could not be completed as my PC played up and I had less time to complete the assessment.
- Regarding User Acceptance Testing, have you performed it before, and what would be your approach to its inclusion and execution?
Business Analyst
It's a really straightforward process. There are two main interview stages, and then we decide on the candidates. We also have a psychometric test to complete, and if you pass that, you usually get an offer pretty quickly. The interview questions and how they're asked can differ depending on the hiring manager.
- What value can you bring to our team, and do you have any past experiences of successful deliveries?
- Could you tell us about your relevant successful delivery experience and the value you can add?
