First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Machol & Johannes.
Legal Assistant
The interview was super fast and simple. I chatted with three different managers. We went over the general workflow and the company's values. They also discussed expectations and what benefits I'd get if I joined the team.
- Where do you see yourself fitting in with our company values?
Software Engineer
So the interview started with a self-introduction where they asked about my roles and responsibilities at my previous company. Then we went into the core concepts of the software development life cycle and some coding interview questions. They were more interested in how I approach the problems rather than the specific solutions.
- Can you start by introducing yourself and detailing your roles and responsibilities at your previous/current company?
- After your introduction, we'll dive into the core concepts of the software development life cycle.
- Following that, there will be some coding interview questions where the focus is on how you approach the problem, not necessarily the final solution.
Post Judgement Assistant
I got a call to set up an interview for the Post Judgement Assistant job. A week later, I went in and met with three people: my supervisor, the department director, and the HR person. It was pretty chill and comfortable. They mostly asked about me and my background, and a couple of easy hypothetical questions. Interestingly, they didn't ask why I'd want to work in a law office or the legal field. After that, I waited for the managing attorney to meet with me. It seemed like they were going to make an offer. We just shook hands, I learned his name, and he said they'd like to talk about the offer. The whole thing was about 30-45 minutes.
- The questions were not difficult and were pretty predictable.
Attorney
I submitted my resume on a Friday and got a call the following Monday from HR for a quick screening. They asked how I heard of the role, what I knew about the firm, and about my salary expectations, plus other general questions. It was a short 20-minute call. The HR person said she'd pass my info to the hiring attorney and get back to me by the end of the week. Come Friday, no follow-up. I emailed her on Monday (a full week later) and heard nothing back. It's now Wednesday, and I'm writing this review. It really annoys me when companies promise to contact you by a certain time and then ghost you. It's even worse when they ignore your attempts to follow up. I did more research on the company since our chat, and its Glassdoor reviews are something else. Honestly, my brief experience confirmed some of the bad ones...
- What are your salary expectations?
