They gave a good overview of what the job would entail and then we talked about my past experience. After that, the hiring manager asked me some questions, and then I got to ask them questions.

I made it to the final round for this role. My observations are that a private equity firm bought out the company, and their objective appears to be gradually reducing the workforce over several years to maximize cash extraction. The company's financial standing is solid, with $500M in revenue and 30% profit margins, and minimal debt. Despite the name, their business extends beyond just 'Paper'. I noticed a lack of diversity in leadership positions, suggesting potential unconscious racial bias, as previously noted. The accounting and finance departments have a very relaxed atmosphere; the team members all know each other from their previous employment at APR energy, which was apparently a chaotic environment they sought to leave. They are currently using an ERP system reminiscent of the 'green screen of death' and plan to transition to a new one in 2021, but given the company culture and pace of other improvements, I suspect this will proceed very slowly.

They don't have a careers page on their website. If they can't find anyone from within, they'll advertise for the role locally. When you go in to apply, they usually do a quick 5-minute interview right then. Then, they review those applications and make calls for callbacks. The second interview goes more in-depth about your past experience and is typically with the operations manager. If they call you back for a third interview, it'll be with the General Manager, and sometimes both managers will be there.

I was brought in for several rounds of interviews at HQ. I met with three different executives and then the CEO. The executives asked several different questions about my experience, my skill set, and my work styles. We also discussed specific work scenarios.
