The interview started with a phone call that turned into a phone interview. Upon arrival, there was a parking issue. After being let in by the secretary, I waited for 15 minutes. Then, two people interviewed me in a conference room filled with old equipment. Following that, I was handed off to some employees for more questions while they worked. One interviewer was very robotic, responding 'Affirmative!' to almost everything. The initial discussion mentioned temporary 10 am-8 or 9 pm hours for catching up, but it turned out these were the permanent regular hours because samples arrive by 10 am, delaying much of the work. I was told I'd hear back in 2-3 days, but it took exactly 30 days. I felt I would be overqualified, underpaid, and significantly older than everyone else. I'd advise avoiding Silliker if you value a life outside of work.

I applied online and got a call from the Lab Manager within a month to schedule a phone interview. The interview itself was a 1:3 with the lab staff. They asked situational and background questions. It was a good interview because the people I met and I clicked, and it went smoothly. They want people who will fit in with the lab group and need a sense of humor. Be casual, calm, make some jokes, and ask them questions. Asking questions helped me understand them and showed my interest. Some interviewers are pulled from the lab randomly and might be nervous. There was a lab tour, so if you wear glasses, wear contacts as you'll need to wear safety glasses. You don't need specific science experience, just don't be stiff and you'll likely get the job.

So first you sit down with two of the senior managers, and they will discuss your experience and why you would like to work there. They ask pretty typical questions, then you do a lab tour and spend some time watching a technician work.
