First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Lyon Living.
Development Intern
The application process was long and I didn't hear back for a few weeks. Then, there were two interviews: one on Zoom and one in person. They asked typical questions and the interviews were scheduled appropriately.
- What are your career aspirations for the next three years?
Property Director
I was asked to call for an interview at 9:30am the next day and they provided their number. It was a Saturday, so I confirmed with them and they said yes. I called and no one answered because they were off! It's funny how they didn't know their own schedule. After having 3 interviews, and one person even said I was their #1 candidate, I didn't hear back for 3 weeks. I had to follow up twice before someone finally responded saying they decided to go in a different direction. Their follow-up was terrible and the whole process seemed disorganized. If this is how they operate, I'm glad I didn't get the job because the recruiting and leadership teams reflect the company. Also, the title is misleading; it's not a Director role but more like a Manager position since there aren't any direct reports who are managers. The salary offered was below average, around low 6-figures. My current company prioritizes the candidate experience and would never provide such an onboarding experience. We always aim to leave a positive impression, even if we don't proceed with a candidate.
- The questions were more of a conversation than actual interview questions.
Leasing Administrator
I had an initial chat with HR, then I was invited for an in-person interview with the Property Director. We talked for about an hour about my past experiences and skills I could use, and also about how the team operates and potential career growth. I got a job offer the very next day, which I accepted.
- How would you handle high-pressure situations?
- Describe an instance where you received exceptional customer service and how it influenced your purchase decision.
- What qualifications or skills do you possess that would be beneficial for daily tasks?
Leasing Consultant
So I had an interview, it was okay, but the follow-up was really bad. They said I'd hear back in two days. I called the hiring manager after that, and he was in a meeting and said he'd call me back. A week went by. I called again, same thing. And then again. It's not that hard to let someone know they didn't get the job, and with that kind of shadiness and avoiding conflict, I wouldn't want to work with them.
- Could you impromptu sell a property's location?
