Assistant
I had a phone interview and then an in person one. The questions they asked were the same for both. It was pretty easy and not super formal.

So, your interview with Lyon Law starts with a phone call. Then, you'll come in for an in-person chat where they'll wanna hear all about your past jobs. If that goes well, you'll then do a week-long working interview. This usually involves screening clients for a day or two, and then you'll get some tasks to do. They'll check out your work after you're done to see how good it is. It's basically a way to see what the daily grind is like at Lyon Law.
- Can you explain any gaps in your employment history?
- What about short stints at previous jobs?
- Are there any other potential issues on your resume that need explaining?
Legal Assistant
So I applied online through my university for a job at Lyon Law. Their job post was kinda wild, they said IN ALL CAPS that they want over a 3.5 GPA from a high-tier school and they'll speed things up for 3.7+ from a top-tier school. About a week later, I got an email for a phone screen with a legal assistant. The call was super short and mostly asked if I'd been on academic probation, fired from a job, or had any criminal convictions. It felt more like an interrogation than a chat. Then I had another phone screen, this time with the CEO. They sent an offer two weeks after that. The offer email was really short, just saying I got the full-time legal assistant job at a specific hourly rate, which was pretty low. I had less than a week to decide. I asked for more time and info on benefits. Unlike most places, they didn't give any written details about stuff like healthcare or paid time off. I also tried to negotiate the pay. My offer got instantly pulled because they said I wasn't enthusiastic enough. This firm has some shady hiring practices, which is a bummer since they're an employment litigation firm. They expect top candidates but then treat them badly and cheap out. If you're one of those candidates, you should look for better.

Associate
It was a very long interview process. First, I had an initial phone interview with the receptionist. Then, I had a phone interview with the hiring manager. After that, I completed a one-week working interview as a trial. They asked a lot about my previous job experiences, especially why I left those jobs. They also asked many questions about customer relationships.
- What led to you leaving your most recent employment?
- Could you elaborate on your previous work history?
- What were the specific reasons for your departure from your prior role?
