I applied online and got a random call from a recruiter. The initial screen call seemed okay even though I didn't have my resume handy. The recruiter seemed young and couldn't answer basic questions about benefits, just said to ask the hiring team. Then there were two video interviews over about 1.5 weeks, with long waits in between. The first was with the hiring manager and an engineer, the second with the same two plus a third engineer. The hiring manager seemed to lie about being an Android developer, and the engineer asked some tricky, maybe sarcastic questions. They both already knew negative things about my past employment from NOAA. The hiring manager made comments about my background check and not being able to telework from abroad, which felt like they were teasing based on information they got from NOAA. I got a bit loud because I felt they were messing with me. The engineer also asked why my jobs are always short, which felt like another gotcha question. There was a really awkward silence during one of the interviews. The third engineer seemed uncomfortable with the others. The hiring manager asked about installing Russian software, which felt like a weird, possibly racist question given the company's employees. HR also seemed to lie about the process, and the job description changed later. The whole interview process felt negative and hostile, designed to poke at my personal life and past issues.

The whole process dragged on for 4 months, and then they retracted the offer. The hiring director had my resume for at least two weeks before even looking at it. I've never had a company ask for my confidential SF-86 paperwork and then withdraw the offer without even submitting it. This happened here for the first time. They didn't even send the forms for review, just rejected it after three attempts to fix minor issues/opinions, and that was it.

I went through three rounds of interviews for this GIS Analyst position. It was a great experience overall, and everyone I met was wonderful. They focused on technical questions and asked me to discuss my resume in detail. Although I didn't get the job, they were very good at keeping me updated and were respectful throughout the entire hiring process.

I had an initial phone call with a recruiter, which I consider an interview since it determined if I'd move forward. It was pretty standard. A few weeks later, a Sr. Recruiter followed up. The salary wasn't finalized, and they mentioned having influence over it, aiming for a specific range. This felt like a pushy sales tactic. Although I'm looking for a salary increase, I decided against continuing the process based on my gut feeling about their approach.
