Affiliate Manager
Applied online via LinkedIn. Got a message almost immediately asking for salary expectations and availability for a 'screening call' that week. I gave my availability and stated I was looking at roles over £xk, and I was assessing the opportunity. No response followed, so I thought it wasn't successful. The next week, I got a short LinkedIn message saying 'that's booked in' with a calendar invite for Wednesday. I got it moved to Tuesday. I thought this was the screening call, but it wasn't. It was an interview to make a decision before the end of the week because they had ambitious targets. The CMO didn't attend even though they were on the invite. The hiring manager didn't know the salary range and suggested I ask HR myself. One of the first questions was about Lyca's reputation for being hostile and if I could cope with that. I asked about benefits, career advancement, promotions, or performance rewards for the role or new team, basically asking why I should work there. They hadn't planned any of that, but said if I did well and hit targets, they'd be grateful. I withdrew my application immediately after.
- Are you comfortable working in a challenging environment, considering Lyca's reputation for being hostile?
- Knowing that 90% of staff were recently made redundant, how do you feel about this new role being safe?
- What plans are in place for career advancement, promotions, or performance rewards for this role and the new team?
Recruiter
The interview was a good experience with lots of back and forth. It wasn't too tough or too simple. They were very communicative and I felt like I was learning. A lot of stuff happened, like breaking the ice and sharing general info. It was very to the point.
- What steps would you take to ensure a new hire feels welcomed at our company?
Product Manager
The interview process itself was good, starting with a half-hour chat with the hiring manager, followed by a second stage that was a presentation lasting over an hour. They really sold the role and company to me, and I decided to ignore prior reviews and give it a shot. I was offered the role, accepted, and asked to shorten my notice period, which I managed to do. However, just two weeks after giving notice, the job was eliminated due to a restructure, even though I had been messaging the hiring manager that week. So, internal communication is terrible, and I've been left jobless. I've tried reaching the hiring manager with no luck. Avoid this company.
- Describe your approach to launching XY...?
Digital Marketing Manager
The interview process was fine and quick, and I got the job offer the same day as my second interview. However, after a month they took back the offer because the hiring manager didn't get approval from the CEO. They wasted a month of my time and are the most unethical and unprofessional people I've ever met.
- Can you discuss your skills and experience?
