The interview process was detailed and thorough. Really good process to weed out "good on paper" vs "actual capabilities". It was: - 1hr interview with the hiring manager - 4-5hr interviews with cross functional and colleagues (2 per 1hr session) -30min follow up with hiring manager

I applied online and the Head of Engineering got in touch. We skipped a screening call and went straight to a video interview. We talked about Eargo and what they do, but then it got weird when they started asking for my thoughts on their website and how to make it better. They really focused on their website and asked for my opinions on it multiple times, which felt like they were trying to get free work done. I don't think it's right to ask for that on a first call. Asking for general feedback is one thing, but asking for detailed problem-solving is someone's actual job. If they wanted to see how someone thinks, they could have asked about a competitor's site or any other company. Besides this odd hiring tactic, they didn't even bother to let me know I wasn't selected. I knew it wasn't a good fit after the call anyway, but it was a complete waste of my time and I had to take time off work for it. TLDR; Unprofessional company. Needs to seriously rethink their hiring questions and process.

I first spoke with their Engineering Architect. Then I had a homework/code challenge with 2 tasks. After that, I did an onsite interview that lasted about 3 hours with 4 people from Engineering, Marketing, and BI teams. They were nice and answered my questions about the company, goals, product, team, and tech. I had a good experience and felt it would be a good fit, but it didn't work out for some reason. The whole thing took over 4 weeks because they didn't reply. I waited 3-15 days between steps and had to ask for updates. Not sure if they're hiring or what they want. Why have code challenges if you won't hire anyone anyway?

HR reached out on LinkedIn. When I asked about total compensation, she mentioned base salary, RSU, and bonus, but didn't give specific numbers for RSU and bonus. She then set up my first call with the Hiring Manager. This call lasted 1.5 hours, and they asked detailed questions about my resume and System Design. After that, I had a coding round with a Sr. SW Engineer, and my final call was with the CIO. HR later called with positive feedback and asked about my offer expectations. I provided my numbers, and then the package details were supposed to be discussed between HR and the Hiring Manager, but they never got back to me with any numbers. The Hiring Manager and company management were very unprofessional. I wouldn't consider a company with such poor management. They apparently don't offer RSUs and only offer a 5% bonus. They seem to interview for one role but then hire for two levels lower and offer significantly less.
