First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Lutheran Social Services of Wisconsin and Upper Michigan.
Service Coordinator
A recruiter reached out first, giving me the full scoop on the job and asking some basic questions about my background. After that, I had a video chat with two supervisors from the department. They were really nice, and the whole interview felt pretty easy and laid-back.
- Tell me about a time you had to handle a difficult resident or consumer, including the situation and the steps you took to resolve it.
PQI Analyst
Got contacted by HR first for a phone interview. Then the next week, I had an in person interview. I followed up and it took about a week to get a call back to schedule another in person interview. This time, there were four people from the PQI analyst team and a department head. They all asked questions from a sheet. They asked about 18 questions and it was about an hour long. One person also asked about my resume.
- How have you made a positive impact on a coworker?
- What makes you a suitable candidate for this job?
- What part would you play in group projects?
Service Coordinator
After I applied online, the program manager called me within a week to schedule an interview for the next day. The call was on time and lasted 20 minutes. They asked general questions, explained the role, and answered my questions. Then, we scheduled an in-person interview for a few days later at the office. There, I met a panel of two current service coordinators and the program manager. After introductions, they asked a series of standard interview questions and a scenario-based question. I also had the chance to ask them questions. It felt pretty basic, and I worried I didn't really show my true self throughout the process. Two days later, I got a job offer.
- In a situation where a parent is unreceptive to our services, what steps would you take, and how would you engage with them?
- How would you approach a parent who is hesitant to accept the services we provide?
- What is your strategy for dealing with parents who are not accepting of our services, and how would you try to connect with them?
Consultant
I had 2 interviews for this remote position. The first was in-person with two people, and the second was a mix of Skype with one person and in-person with another. The Skype part was to see how I'd communicate with the team remotely, which is most of the time for this job. I thought the process was good for finding people who fit the role and the remote work style. They asked me questions about the job and my current program, and I got to ask them questions too. They seemed really honest about any potential issues with the job.
