First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Lutheran Social Services of New York.
Child Care Worker
The interview process was very easy. The interview lasted about 15 minutes. After that, I had to complete a form with a few questions. I got hired at the end. This was a few years ago, so I'm not sure how the process works nowadays.
- Am I alright with working long hours?
Case Worker
We had a group interview where we talked about what I enjoy about case management. They also asked me about the perfect client and the worst client. They asked how I am different from the people served and how I am similar. They also asked about personal advocacy I have done in my life and what interests me about the job.
- Can you describe the most challenging decision you've had to make regarding a client?
Teacher
The interview process was pretty underwhelming. I spoke with the director of Early LIFE and was asked a little bit about my experience and interests. After that she listened off around ten questions about child care and teaching. I never was contacted back after phone call even though I had adequate experience and required qualifications.
- What is your teaching approach?
- How do you involve parents in the classroom?
- How would you manage a challenging situation with a child?
Employment Coordinator
The interview was good, it was all about the tasks you have done in internship. They want to make sure you know about the company's tasks for this position. But they don't response you if you hire or no. It is enough to know someone and they gonna hire you without any interview. This was what I saw when I worked as intern.
- Can you describe your understanding of the duties and responsibilities for this role?
- Do you have any personal connections within the company?
- Could you detail the tasks you performed during your internship?
