Got reached out to because I was a reference of someone who works there. The whole process took about a month. They were pretty bad at communicating, taking over a week to respond between interviews. After telling me they were impressed with my background and making me put together a presentation that took me days, they didn’t move me forward and gave no insights. It felt really disrespectful, and I’m not sure they even knew what they were looking for.

Worst interview experience ever. Started with a phone screen, then a long design test (4-5 hours). After that, a 1-hour interview, followed by a 1-hour behavioral test that strangely included algebraic equations. The final interview was with the same person asking repetitive questions while another just observed. They weren't friendly and focused on trivial details like high school GPA instead of a conversational chat, despite their 'Do Good Work, Don't Sleep' culture slogan.

I applied online in late September 2019, and I got an email about my first phone screen within a week. Then, I had two more phone interviews about a week apart. They were both pretty chill, behavioral style "fit" interviews. After that, I was invited to take an online behavior/personality assessment (Kolbe Index) on how I work. Once I got my results from that test, I was invited to do a longer-form interview that took about 3 hours. This was a fully-comprehensive screen where my interviewer asked me questions about everything from high school to my hopes/dreams for the future. Finally, I was invited to do an on-sight interview in NYC. The super day at the NYC office was fun and chill. There were a variety of mini-interviews set up and talks for us to go to. At the end of the super day, our future managers pulled us to the side and told us we'd get an offer.

So, a recruiter hit me up. This was honestly one of the strangest interview processes I've been through. I chatted with 3 folks in total, and it felt like none of them really knew what they were searching for in a candidate or even what the job actually was. The craziest part was this 3-hour interview focused on some personality assessments I took. I met with the growth lead and then some board member who apparently just likes interviewing people, even though I was told I wouldn't be working with him. It was a massive time sink because it went on for ages, and he wanted to hear about my background right from high school. It dragged on so long that the growth lead actually logged off and stopped participating. They even hinted at possibly needing a part two! Luckily, I think they ended up going with someone else. All in all, the company seemed to have a really toxic vibe and didn't seem to value work-life balance, plus they seemed pretty disorganized. They also mentioned they aren't big on hiring for senior roles externally because there's so much competition. Not really my scene, and definitely 3 hours I can't get back, especially since they let anyone interview candidates just for kicks.
