We had a general chat about my current experience, not really digging into technical skills. The interviewer did say there would definitely be a second interview with the direct manager, but I never got called back.

The interview process had two parts: a phone interview and then an in person interview. During the phone interview, the supervisor talked about my background and then explained the reason for hiring, asking if I would be interested in project opportunities. For the in person interview, I had to prepare a presentation about my background, which I presented to a group of research assistants and program supervisors. After the presentation, I was asked questions about my background.

I was contacted by a recruiter, had 2 phone chats with them, then they connected me to the PI. I then spoke with the PI and Technical Lead on the phone about my background. A couple days later, I was invited for an on-site interview. I flew out 2 weeks later. First, I met the Technical Lead, who told me about the company and asked me one technical question which I answered. Then, I met with two panels of engineers (about 6 people each). They asked general questions about my background and some easy technical questions. The next day, I got a call with an offer.

HR reached out and communication was great initially. I had a quick phone screen where they went over my background, and then got invited to a phone screen with the hiring manager. After that, communication became very slow, and I had to follow up several times before I was scheduled for an on-site interview with multiple people. The interview itself seemed to go well and everyone was friendly. The hiring manager mentioned he would call the next day, but I never heard back, even after following up with HR again.
