First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Lumos Learning.
Intern
The interview process started with basic and general questions, focusing on understanding my knowledge of the company and its products. It was an on-campus interview, and they weren't heavily focused on technical skills, more on whether I could learn and do the job.
- Were there any typical logical questions asked?
- Was there a general conversation?
Product Specialist
I had an initial phone interview and it went well and they wanted me to move to the next step. I had some follow-up questions before the next interview was set up, as I had never worked independently before. I disclosed at the time that I was pregnant and either needed two weeks off or needed to start after my due date. Then the person who was previously very engaged went completely silent. This was the first instance of bias I've encountered in the workplace related to being pregnant or a new mom, and it came from this company.
- Have you worked remotely before?
Tester
First, you'll take some aptitude tests to check your reasoning, numerical, and verbal skills. Then, we'll have interviews to see how you communicate, your personality, your experience, and if you're a good fit. We'll ask you structured questions, have discussions, and give you problem-solving scenarios to figure out if you're ready for the job and if you'd fit in well.
- Tell me about yourself.
- What makes you want this particular job?
- Can you provide practical distinctions between various apps?
Business Development
So there were 3 rounds for the interview. First, there was an aptitude test to see how good I am at problem-solving and cognitive skills. Then, we had a group discussion, which was pretty dynamic, to check how we work with others, collaborate, and explain our ideas. Lastly, I had a one-on-one with HR to really dig into my background, experience, and if I'm a good fit for the company culture and values.
- Tell me about what you know regarding the company.
- What are your fundamental understandings of the position?
