It was a 2 part interview process, the first with HR and the second with the whole team. My initial interview was supposed to be over the phone but I didn't receive any call at the time. I only found out after I followed up that the HR agent was having phone issues and assumed it was me not answering. They never followed up with me, so if I hadn't called, I would never have had the initial interview. The interview itself was fine, with standard questions. After the first interview, there was a long wait, and I had to follow up again to find out I'd gotten through to the next stage, which was in person. Due to personal circumstances, I couldn't attend, and they kindly rearranged it to be virtual. The interview itself was fine again, with quite standard questions. I also had another job offer, so I told them and asked if they could let me know if they were interested in offering me the position. A few days later, I learned they needed references for a background check, which would take 2-3 weeks. I thought this was excessive, especially since I didn't even have a job offer, but I assumed it was a formality before an offer. However, they didn't offer me the job, which left me confused. Why do 3 weeks of checks and make me wait when I had another offer, only to not offer me the job? It left me annoyed, and I thought the whole process was inefficient and a waste of my time.

This was for the Northbrook location. The recruiter and hiring manager interviewed me all within a week. I was told I would be moved to the next round for an on-site panel interview within a week. I check-in weekly with the recruiter, and was basically given different reasons each time for the delay (PTO, Thanksgiving Break), etc. One month goes by, and the recruiter tells me my onsite interview will be in two days. Then, they called me an hour later stating they are going with another candidate and I in fact won't be doing the panel interview. This was completely unacceptable from a candidate perspective. I would not apply again.

My interview process with Luminex was a mess. I applied online and was supposed to have a phone screening on Tuesday, but they never called. I called them, left a message about still being interested, and didn't hear back until Saturday morning, when they asked if we could do the screening right then. I didn't know it would be at that time. Then, I had a virtual interview that went fine. After that, I was invited for a 3-hour onsite interview with several people. One interviewer was really rude and told me my undergraduate research was wrong. After the long interview, they asked my start date and said I'd hear back soon. I never heard anything. Even after I emailed them two weeks later asking about the position and deadline, I still haven't heard back, and it's been over a month since the interview. It was really disrespectful of my time.

HR reached out pretty fast after I applied, like within a day. They set up an initial HR chat, then a video call with the hiring manager. After that, there was a 2-hour video session with a group of senior developers, and then another 1-hour video call with technical leads from different teams. Following that, a 1-hour video chat with managers from other departments. The final step was a video call with the Director of Software. The whole thing took about a month. We did a bunch of MS Teams meetings instead of a single day on-site because of COVID-19. It was all handled very professionally and didn't feel stressful.
