Account Manager
First, there was a virtual interview using HireVue where they asked questions about my past experience and included a memory game at the end. I had to use the STAR method for my answers, and each response had a 3-minute time limit. After that, I had an interview with the manager, followed by an interview with the director.
- Can you describe a situation where you successfully resolved a customer issue?
Account Manager
This was easily the most simple interview that I've ever had. Very few questions and very informal. Only one interview with the sales manager. Lots of, "tell me what you'd do in this situation". I was given the opportunity for this position coming from the residential side. The easiest interview I've had. I almost feel like they had made their decision before the interview. I'm sure most interviews are not this simple. Surprisingly, I only interviewed with the sales manager, there were no other parties involved in the interviewing process. I feel like they were in a hurry to fill this position.
- What's your strategy for generating leads?
- Describe your approach to a given situation.
Technical Account Manager
After phone screens, I had an onsite interview. The first person I spoke with was different than expected and was working from home on a poorly charged phone while I was in a conference room. They said their main criteria was customer orientation within established parameters. The second interview was with someone from Engineering, who said their main criteria was taking care of the Engineers. The third person represented Customer Satisfaction and emphasized "Following Procedures." After this, I was told they felt I wouldn't do well with procedures, which surprised me since I found a lack of direction challenging in my current TAM role. My impression is that this company is very silo'd, not as agile as they seem, and might be a tough environment for a TAM.
- Can you describe an instance where you had to go around established procedures?
